Moving house in Marijampolė on your own: a plan and choosing a minibus

Moving house yourself is often easier and cheaper than it seems. The most important thing is to prepare well and hire a cargo van of the right size so that you don’t have to make several trips.

One week until the move

• Make a list of your large items – wardrobes, beds, sofas, a fridge and a washing machine. You can then choose the size of the van based on these.
• Measure your longest items. It is usually the length, rather than the volume, that matters – for example, a dismantled wardrobe or sofa.
• Book your minibus in advance, especially for weekends and at the end of the month – that’s when people tend to move house most often.
• Ask for a hand – heavy items are best carried by two or three people.

What size minibus do you need?

• Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Super Max – 15.5 m³ cargo space, approximately 4.7 m long. Suitable for flat removals and long items.
• Volkswagen Crafter – a load compartment approximately 3.6 m long, with a floor area of 6.5 m². Suitable for a smaller flat, a few pieces of furniture or household appliances.

Both vehicles can be driven with a Category B driving licence. If you’re unsure, please give us a call – we’ll advise you on which licence is sufficient based on your list of items.

When loading

• Start by loading the heaviest and largest items – against the wall next to the cab.
• Secure furniture and equipment to the tie-down points using straps, and fill any gaps with soft items.
• Place the windows and mirrors vertically and wrap them in blankets.

How much does it cost?

Rental – €55 per day, with discounts available for longer-term hire. The daily rate includes 400 km, and the road tax has already been paid. You can collect the vehicle from 5 Mokolų Street, Marijampolė; at weekends – from 10 am to 5 pm.
